We decided this month’s blog would be interesting—and helpful—to share a true story from a real customer. Here’s her experience:

Hi, my name is Amanda. I’m a single mom with a seven-year-old. I had the opportunity to move to a less expensive apartment in my community. I first thought about renting a truck and doing it myself, but I wasn’t able to pack everything or get family help in time. That led me to look into professional movers. AB Moving had a great reputation, so I contacted them. I also got quotes from other moving companies, but in my opinion, they weren’t as responsive as AB Moving, and their pricing was a little higher.
You can choose an hourly rate or a flat rate to cover the move. Because I wasn’t fully prepared, a flat rate would have initially lower, because I did not know at that time that I would not be able to get all the packing done. That would then have caused an increase at the time the movers arrived to look over the items I had to move, and could have resulted in an argument or dickering about price.
The movers arrived on time, but I wasn’t ready. They explained to me how the hourly rate works and about how many hours it might take to do what was needed. That turned out to be the right option for my move. I spent the time trying to finish packing, directing them where to relocate items, and taking care of my child’s needs. Despite all that, they were patient, careful, and supportive. In the end, I give AB Moving a five-star rating, and I would definitely use them again. It seems like apartment communities are always increasing the rent toward the end of a lease. That has happened to me wherever I have been, and it prompt me to start looking around for better options. My lessons learned? If you want to save on moving, pack thoroughly, label well, and plan for disassembly and reassembly of items.”
